Rizzo’s Malabar Inn Wedding – Ashley & Jon

I start this blog with a fair overshare warning!!! hahaha.

Ashley & Jon’s wedding at Rizzo’s Malabar Inn in Crabtree was totally epic. All the elements aligned to give us a PERFECT June day. Which if you know the weather in and around Pittsburgh you know that is such a rarity! Ashley & I were connected through her Aunt, Lisa, the makeup guru behind Kiss and Makeup On Location Makeup Artistry in Pittsburgh. Lisa & I go way back and have worked many weddings together in my career. So to have her refer me to her niece was an honor.

Here are some of our favorite photos from the wedding.

Ashley had the sweetest flower girls.

The couple chose to do a first look prior to the ceremony to calm both of their nerves and to have some time alone before the wedding.

They chose Twin Lakes Park where Ashley used to go growing up. It had a beautiful double-lined path with tall trees. It was a great spot!

Ashley & Jon chose Rizzo’s as their venue because they loved the outdoor space for their ceremony. From the bride “We were both wanting an outdoor ceremony. That was the ONE thing we both were looking for in our venue. When we visited Rizzo’s for the first time, we fell in love with the outdoor area. It was exactly what we were looking for. It was quiet, calm and beautiful. We loved the waterfall feature and all the greenery around the area. We felt it would be perfect for photos.”

They had an epic entrance to the reception.

DJ Adam of  PowerBomb Productions even set off sparklers… Don’t worry they’re not flammable!

Jon’s dad passed away last December so Jon & his mom honored him a special way by dancing to his favorite song “A Pirate Looks at 40” by Jimmy Buffett.

Ashley & her dad choreographed a routine for their father-daughter dance. They started off with “What a Wonderful World” – Louis Armstrong. The music cut and then transitioned into Eye of the Tiger, Hound Dog Jump On It, Thriller, then finally ending again with What a Wonderful World. It was so fun! Everyone loved it.

We ended the evening with a few shots during the golden light right before sunset.
