Katie & Matt met at Westminster College.
From the bride: ” We were really close all throughout our time at Westminster. We had a lot of friends in common. It was a great time, but we didn’t really connect on another level until after I graduated… We traveled back and forth to see each other a few times that first year, finally figuring out what we were searching for, and found it in one another.”
Matthew & I connected with Katie several years back when she served as a bridesmaid in one of the first weddings we photographed, Richelle & Daniel. We bumped into both Matt & Katie over the years at various weddings, but I was overjoyed when Katie contacted me to tell me she and Matt were engaged, and more so when she asked us to photograph their wedding!
Family is so important to these two. You really felt that emanating from both sides on the day of the wedding. Emotions flowed freely and allowed us to capture some beautiful moments.
Katie’s grandfather passed away just two months before the wedding. She had a piece of her grandfather’s shirt sewn into her dress.
Matt specifically wanted a picture with his grandmother by the piano in the lobby. She taught him how to play and gave him a love of music.
We headed to Robin Hill Park in Moon for the portraits. It was a perfect backdrop!
Katie’s brother is currently deployed overseas and couldn’t make it back for the wedding. He waited up until past midnight his time so that he could video call and talk to her. We were able to include him in the photographs which I think is so special.
These two both come from large Italian families. They take the Pittsburgh cookie table tradition seriously! They had 40 different kinds of homemade cookies. They were all delicious!
Katie’s maid of honor, Kristina, helped execute a special surprise video toast Katie’s brother had put together.
Scott from Magic Moments Pittsburgh DJ Service was in charge of the entertainment for the night. As always he did not disappoint.
Everyone was on the dance floor all night!
Thoughts from the bride:
“I’m sure the pictures will remind us of how beautiful the flowers were and the 7 different kinds of cupcakes, what I think we treasure most about the day was just the feeling of love between us and throughout the room. When I walked down the aisle and I finally took Matt’s hand, I felt this incredible sense of calm. It was like coming home. And you can’t plan for something as wonderful as that.”
Katie & Matt, we had the best time celebrating with you. We wish you a lifetime of happiness.
