I’m so unbelievably excited to share with you our first wedding of wedding season 2018. It was such a beautiful wedding at Heinz Chapel & the Twentieth Century Club in Pittsburgh.
Laura & Evan were connected together by mutual friends. Evan and his groomsman Jack were roommates at West Point. Jack would often video chat with his fiance Lindsay. It was around the time of year that the annual Yearling Winter Weekend Dance was coming up. Evan was without a date so Lindsay proposed that she had a friend, Laura, with whom she attended Northwestern University, that if he wanted she would ask to accompany him to the dance. Linsday asked and Laura said yes.
From the Groom: “I was extremely excited and a bit nervous once she’d agreed to come out. I’d never been set up on a blind date before, and I’ll admit I’ve always been somewhat shy around new people. It didn’t help that this new person was an exceedingly pretty member of the opposite gender. We exchanged texts for the next few weeks as Yearling Winter Weekend drew closer, and finally decided to meet at Grand Central Station on the Friday night before the dance…I’ll never forget walking into the atrium at Grand Central Station and seeing her beside the banister of a sweeping marble staircase. I walked up to her and introduced myself, and she has been the center of my life ever since. She is my partner, my better half, and my best friend. I love her with all my heart and I can’t wait to spend my life with her.
We started the wedding day at the Twentieth Century Club for the bride’s prep. Laura made the most beautiful bride. Her beautiful blue eyes and sweet smile were captivating.
The bride chose to start the formal photos at Schenley Park. Mother nature could not have cooperated any better, as the park just a week before her big day had no leaves or blooms anywhere to be found. They made their way by Saturday though! I was so happy for this because Laura loves nature and really wanted a natural background to offest the architecture of the venues.
“It was important to both Evan and me that he was in uniform along with those of his friends and family that are currently serving. Their service to our country is honorable, and I am proud to join a group of spouses that support them.” -Laura
The couple opted for a first look. Evan’s reaction to his bride was so sweet.
Gidas Flowers did a beautiful job with the florals for the wedding. They were very classic. I loved the addition of ivy for the greenery. Gidas always does such wonderful work.
We chose to utilize the courtyard that connects Heinz chapel & The cathedral of learning for some more photos of the couple.
I loved the back & train of laura’s gown, as did she, so we had to feature it in some of the photos!
“Coming from a family of professional musicians, the music at our wedding throughout the day was particularly important to us. My Uncle Mike, the principal trumpet in the Cleveland Orchestra, (who also played at my parents’ wedding), played all of the music at the ceremony with the organist. His trumpet playing is some of the purest, beautiful music and it soared over the organ throughout Heinz Chapel. The fanfare played before my entrance and processional with my Father was written for this particular day by Tim Higgins, a composer who arranges for John Williams. It was called ‘Fanfare for Laura’, and was created to lead into our processional, ‘Praise My Soul, The King of Heaven’ which was the same processional used for Queen Elizabeth II’s wedding.” – Laura
The saber arch!
The Twentieth Century Club was decked out to the nines. It was beautiful and classic in white linnens and white flowers.
The cake was so special to the couple. The bride’s grandmother gifted this cake to the couple before she passed away. She was insistent on a four-tier decadent cake with pearl-luster flower petals cascading down the side. It was so beautiful just as Grandma Weber knew it would be.
The couple had a traditional Pittsburgh cookie table, but also customized it by adding dounuts which are the groom’s favorite.
Love and laughter flowed through the room as the toasts were shared.
The couple was then seranaded by a friend of the bride. (with an original song! It was a great experience!)
What can I say about The Elite Show Band? They are absolutely phenomenal!
I always love getting to see Nina, Peter & the rest of the band at weddings. They keep everyone out on the dancefloor. Their energy is infectious. You just can’t help but dance!
Sparkler send off.
Laura & Evan thank you so much for allowing to be apart of your special day. It is one we won’t soon forget. We wish you much love and many years of happiness together.
